Birdsong

Craft (optional)

Activate your enclaves to craft cards from your hand. Each enclave acts as a crafting piece for the suit of the clearing it occupies.

  • Hint Crafting resolves before your Rally or Reconcile choice, so you can use your full enclave spread regardless of what you plan to do next.

Rally or Reconcile

Choose one:

  • Rally — Place 1 warrior at every Militant enclave on the map.
  • Reconcile — Flip any number of your Militant enclaves to their Peaceful side. Each player who rules a flipped clearing immediately draws 1 card.
  • Hint Rally once to build forces when threatened, then Reconcile the next Birdsong to restore scoring. Letting Militant enclaves accumulate locks you into mandatory Evening battles you can't escape.

Daylight

Take Up to Three Actions

Take up to three Settle or Provoke actions in any order. Movement treats rivers as paths — you may move along a river connecting two clearings regardless of who rules them.

  • Settle — Move any number of your warriors from multiple adjacent clearings into one destination clearing at once. Then either battle in that clearing or place a new Peaceful enclave there (if you rule it and it has no enclave).
  • Provoke — Either flip one of your Peaceful enclaves to Militant, or place a new Militant enclave on a river or in a clearing with one of your warriors. Then place 1 warrior at every Militant enclave. Discard a random card from your hand.
  • Hint River movement ignores rule — no other faction moves this freely. Use it to surge warriors across large stretches of the board in a single Settle action.
  • Hint Provoke's random discard can strip you of cards needed for Integrate or crafting. Provoking repeatedly in a low-card turn is risky.
  • Hint If an enemy attacks one of your Peaceful enclaves, Fears Come to Pass triggers: every Peaceful enclave that shares a clearing with that enemy's pieces flips to Militant simultaneously — across the whole board.

Evening

Retaliate

Battle at every clearing that contains one of your Militant enclaves. This is mandatory — you must fight at each Militant enclave, whether the odds favor you or not.

  • Hint Every Militant enclave on the board is a mandatory battle you must fight this Evening. Reconcile aggressively to keep this list short and your warriors alive.

Integrate

Spend any number of cards from your hand, one at a time. For each card spent, score 1 VP per Peaceful enclave on the map whose clearing's suit matches that card's suit. The frog suit cannot be used for Integrate.

  • Hint The more Peaceful enclaves you hold, the more VP each card generates. A single card can score 4 or 5 VP when matching Peaceful enclaves are spread across the map.

Draw and Discard

Draw cards based on your current Peaceful enclave count: 1 card (0–1 Peaceful enclaves), 2 cards (2–3), 3 cards (4–7), or 4 cards (8 or more). Then discard down to a maximum of 5 cards in hand.

  • Hint Your hand size and your VP output both scale with Peaceful enclave count. Keeping enclaves Peaceful is the single most impactful thing you can do each turn.
