Muad'Dib

Ride the worm into every battle and let the desert hand you its secrets.

Beginner-friendly (one complexity icon); also a 6-player team Commander

Background

Muad'Dib — the desert name of a prophet — is Uprising's sandworm leader. His passive, Unpredictable Foe, triggers on your Reveal turn: with one or more sandworms in the Conflict, draw an Intrigue card. His Signet Ring, Lead the Way, simply draws a card.

In the 6-player game he transcends the roster entirely, becoming one of the two team Commanders — troopless, trackless, activating his Allies with arrowed Agent tokens while his private Fremen track pays the whole team.

How you win

Get Maker hooks fast, then make sandworms routine: every worm is 3 strength, doubled Conflict rewards, and — for you alone — an Intrigue card at reveal. The Intrigue stream compounds into combat swings and endgame VPs no one can count.

His clean card-draw signet keeps the deck moving between wars. Win through doubled Conflict hauls, battle-icon pairs, and the hidden Intrigue points that make his final score a surprise.

How they play

  • Sietch Tabr first — hooks are the passive's ignition; without them Muad'Dib is a vanilla leader with a draw ring
  • One worm per fight is enough — the Intrigue triggers on any worm presence; summon one, back it with troops, and save the second summon for another round
  • Detonate or respect the Shield Wall — your whole plan cares where worms are legal; blowing the Wall at the right Conflict is often your move
  • As 6-player Commander: feed your private Fremen track early (the team-wide spice and water pay everyone), alternate Allies deliberately, and hold your one-use Swordmaster for the round that decides an Alliance

Strengths

  • For Muad'Dib a sandworm is strength, doubled rewards, and an Intrigue card — three payoffs on one summon. No other leader gets this much from the desert.

  • A steady Intrigue stream means combat tricks in every war and endgame VPs in reserve — rivals must always assume Muad'Dib is a point or two richer than the track shows.

Weaknesses

  • !

Everything routes through Sietch Tabr — which needs 2+ Fremen Influence and is a single blockable (though spy-able) space. A table that delays your hooks delays your whole identity.

  • !

While the Shield Wall stands, three marquee locations refuse your worms — and detonating it helps every other hooked player too. Your signature move can arm your rivals.

Tips & tricks

  • Tip

Worm summons ride on desert cards and spice — keep a small spice float dedicated to summoning, separate from your Persuasion shopping, so a juicy Conflict never catches you dry.

  • Tip

Doubled rewards scale with the prize: hold your worm rounds for Conflict II and III cards with fat reward lines, and take ordinary fights with plain troops.
