Lady Margot Fenring

The Sisterhood pays your way, and your spies always watch the desert.

Beginner-friendly (one complexity icon)

Background

Lady Margot Fenring, Bene Gesserit operative in a Great House marriage, runs an elegant, focused game. Her passive, Loyalty, pays 2 spice when you reach 2 Bene Gesserit Influence — and pays again if you drop below and climb back. Her Signet Ring, Arrakis Informant, places a Spy on an observation post connected to a Fremen board space.

One complexity icon: climb the Sisterhood's track, keep eyes on the desert, and let both engines feed a flexible middle game.

How you win

Open with the Bene Gesserit climb — the 2-Influence threshold hands you a VP and 2 spice, funding whatever comes next. Her free Fremen-side Spies then unlock the desert: Infiltrate into contested Fremen combat spaces, Gather Intelligence off them, and keep a lane open toward Sietch Tabr's Maker hooks.

She converts those early gifts into a standard strong game — Influence VPs on two tracks, worm-backed Conflict wins, and steady purchases. Margot rarely dominates a category; she's simply ahead everywhere by round four.

How they play

  • Two Bene Gesserit visits, fast — Espionage and Secrets both climb the track; the 2-spice payout lands best in the opening rounds
  • Signet early and often — a free Spy per ring keeps Fremen posts covered without spending card icons; the posts feed Infiltrates all game
  • Consider the re-trigger — if an effect ever costs you Bene Gesserit Influence, remember Loyalty pays 2 spice again on the way back up
  • Bridge to the worms — her Fremen-side vision pairs naturally with a Sietch Tabr plan: hooks, then desert Conflicts with doubled rewards

Strengths

  • A VP plus 2 spice by round two or three is one of the smoothest openings in Uprising — Loyalty pays for the exact tempo other leaders must harvest for.

  • Fremen spaces are combat spaces — her signet Spies convert into Infiltrates onto the board's most contested battlegrounds, at zero card cost.

Weaknesses

  • !

Loyalty is essentially a one-time gift (re-triggers are rare), and the signet only places Spies on one side of the board — her powers fade as the game's questions get bigger.

  • !

Fremen-post-only placement means her ring can't answer threats elsewhere — no Landsraad or Maker coverage without spending regular Spy icons like everyone else.

Tips & tricks

  • Tip

Treat Loyalty's 2 spice as seed capital, not savings: a round-three Sietch Tabr visit or an early worm summon converts it into the engines that score the rest of the game.

  • Tip

Margot naturally straddles Bene Gesserit and Fremen — chasing both 2-Influence VPs (and maybe one Alliance) is usually stronger than pushing either track to 4 alone.
